I went to work for Mr. Spencer Penrose on the Pikes Peak Auto Highway in 1922 and worked up there off and on until the city took over the highway in April, 1948. We started skiing up there in 1935 and developed the area around Glen Cove, I was president of the Pikes Peak Ski Club for several years. In 1948 I went to work for the City of Colorado Springs as Superintendent of the Pikes Peak Auto Highway. In 1955 Mr. John Biery, City Manager and Mr. James Murray, Head of the Public Works Department, had me come down and take over the Street Department as Superintendent. I held this position until I retired November 1, 1966. |
