Favorite Memories from Climbing Fourteeners
"the Club" was the greatest thing in Willis's life and he was more proud of being a charter member than anyone ever realized. He worked all year long on some phase of club work—not just at the time of the annual climb. He kept wonderful records and files, most of which have been given to the Western History Department of Penrose Public Library. There they will be preserved, cataloged and filed and be available for research by anyone who wishes to know about the history of the club and its members. In later years when Willis did not climb, he would go down to the radio station and help the announcers by giving them facts and anecdotes to make the broadcast more interesting. Some of his fondest memories were of early climbs with Fred Morath, Harry Standley and Fred Barr.
